Some of the best conversations I’ve ever had

January 26, 2007

I talk to myself, that’s no secret. I know a lot of people do. In fact, it was the subject of discussion on my favorite morning show this week.

Sometimes I talk to myself about meaningful things — “don’t forget you need milk and we need to stop at the post office.”

Sometimes I talk to myself in an effort to digest things — “why is he acting like this?”

Sometimes I use it to rehearse the things I want to say for a confrontation I intend to attempt just to organize my thoughts and see how it sounds.

But sometimes — it’s just complete nonsense. I think that more often than not, my self-conversing falls in this category. Today at work, I was walking to the bathroom and caught myself saying “hip. hip. hip.” aloud as I crossed the office. I have no idea where it came from. I didn’t realize that I was saying it aloud until one of my coworkers looked up from his desk. Busted.
